From the ground up and taking to the air.....

Private Pilot Ground School.
Private Pilot Flight Training. Right Seat Ready.
Sport Pilot Training.

Starting with the most basic rating, the Private Pilot license, there are two primary components to the learning process. Acquiring the knowledge to pass the FAA written examination, frequently done by attending 1) "ground school" and the actual 2) flight instruction in the airplane. Both are required before taking an oral exam and check ride with an FAA examiner.

Private Pilot Ground School

Graham Aviation Services private pilot ground school not only teaches you what you need to know to pass the FAA written test but also includes practical, real-life flying scenarios to help make you a safe pilot in today’s airspace.

So what do I learn in Ground School?

Private Pilot flight training

When you sit in the left seat as a student pilot and begin accumulating the required hours of experience operating the aircraft, that is the Flight Training. Each time you go up you are acquiring new skills, reinforcing previous lessons and gaining experience.

Initially, your hours are logged with an instructor to acquire and practice maneuvers to gain proficiency in the plane before you can make your first solo flight. After your solo flight, you will be practicing on your own and utilizing your flight planning and navigation skills.

After your solo flight, sometimes you fly alone to practice what you have already learned and will continue to fly with the instructor to add more competencies as a pilot. Your instructor evaluates your proficiency in preparation for your check ride with the FAA flight examiner.

The total number of hours needed for you to prepare for your checkride are related to your ability to practice regularly and at intervals that keep your skills from becoming "rusty".  This can vary from person to person.

Sport Pilot Training

What is the difference between Private Pilot training and Sport Pilot training?

The body of knowledge required for the Sport Pilot rating is a sub-set of the knowledge required for a Private Pilot rating. The fundamentals of flight apply to everything that flies; from kites to balloons and birds to Boeings. Weather and wind are examples of what EVERY pilot must understand and will experience first hand as an aviator.

The overall experience of earning a Sport Pilot rating is very similar to that of the person earning their private pilot rating. There is knowledge to be acquired and piloting skills to master in the air.

Graham Aviation highly recommends that you give us a call or come by to discuss the process in more detail. Regardless of which rating you choose to pursue, we want you to be a safe pilot with good aeronautical decision making skills.

Right Seat Ready

What is Right Seat Ready?

This is a one day course especially for the person who is not a pilot and yet seems to spend a lot of time in the right seat of the cockpit. More than just a perennial passenger, this is someone who can help make every flight safer and more enjoyable!

By becoming familiar with flight operations in a format that is fun and designed to be relaxed, even a timid flyer can become a valuable and knowledgeable cockpit resource. Why should pilots have all the fun!

Call Graham Aviation for the date of the next class.
